RE: New Class C Owner Seeks Advice

THE best part is pulling in after a long drive and putting it in park and walking back to the couch and kicking back and relaxing! No more un hooking, leveling, moving TV and then reverse the process when it is time to leave. Trust me you won't EVER miss this part of RV'ing now that you have a MH.:W Buy one of the those square bubble levels and place it between the cup holders, and when you pull in to your site you can move around a little bit, so that you are at the best level spot, BEFORE you finally park it. I rarely have to use leveler blocks since using this method. http://www.rvpartscenter.com/Image/29212.jpg Welcome to the other side of RV'ing.....MH style.:C

RE: reduced fat in dog food

One seizure and allergy dog and one dog that has liver problems prompted me to find the 'lowest fat' and the 'lowest protein' dog food that would address both of their problems. I found Solid Gold's Holistique Blendz for Senior and Less active dogs, has been literally a life saver for both of these dogs. Contrary to media hype, many dogs with allergies are ALSO allergic to lamb. I slipped up and gave my allergy dog biscuits that had lamb in them and he broke out in hives and started having seizures. He has been seizure free since switching to Solid Gold Holistique Blendz, and the dog with liver problems....no longer has this problem!

RE: Full timing definition

RV'ing is taking trips with an RV. Full time RV'ing is when the decision is made to continue 'traveling' all the time. RV - RECREATIONAL Vehicle. On the road 'traveling', whether it be all the time or between several places following the warm weather and enjoying all the wonderful sights to be seen across America. IMHO an RV parked in one place permanently is "living" in an RV not Full Time Recreation. Perhaps we need a need a new forum for people who are living in an RV that would address the specific questions and info related to their choice of the type of home they choose to live in.

Rental houses in Florida that allow MH??

I have some friends from up north that want to come down to Florida for a couple of weeks or maybe even a month and visit while I am down here. Is there a website that lists homes for rent for the winter season in Mid Central Floridea, by the week and/or month, that in a perfect world would also allow you to park the MH there too? Tks, Rock

RE: To Winterize or Not to Winterize ( Northern Hemisphere)

DaSu, This is my personal opinion that this is a no brainer. I head south in another 2 weeks and I have winterized my rig allready and I will de-winterize when I get far enough south that there is no chance of freezing nights. The way I look at it is it cost me $3.88 for the antifreeze and about 20 min. to add it and another 20 min. to flush it out compared to the cost of repairs to the water lines after they have burst and the inconvenience of all that goes with it. As I said this is my opinion. Fred Ditto, Ditto, Ditto! Every RV has different routes/compartments for the water lines. What trick will work to keep them from freezing for one type of RV, won't necessarily work for a different RV. Takes all of 30 minutes if that, versus the cost and damage from a broken line. AND avoid all the worrying as you travel to warmer temps if you can keep the lines from freezing. I too winterized, bought a porta-pottie, and hit the road to warmer temps without having to worry. :C

RE: Help! Desperately need formed Filon siding

Check with your local RV dealerships Service Dept. I found that the service departments keep walls, parts, etc from trade ins that they don't intend to resell. They keep these to sell to people needing parts that may be discountinued. My service dept has assisted me in numerous items I have needed for the MH. Good Luck!

RE: Is this fulltiming?

Here is one from Wisconin at a CG I stayed at. I've been told its a way around permit/zoning laws to wrap a home around an RV? Personally I'd like to see one using a Prevost! :B http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v664/RVn05/tt3.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v664/RVn05/tt.jpg

Where to download AVG from?

Letting Norton go to the wayside and switch to AVG. There are so many websites that use the AVG name. Which website is 'THE' AVG site so I do not get unwanted programs? OR Is CNET a safer place to download it from? Tks, Rock

RE: Chattanooga Camping World Flooded

Lots of unhappy new Cougars and Outbacks in that video! What a shame, both for the campers and everyone affected by this flooding. I wish all those folks in the area a speedy recovery effort. I came thru that with my MH towing when it started. All I can tell you is I have never seen THAT much rain come down so quick, at one time and for so long and for as many days as it did. It was my trip from hell. 5hr trip out of KY to east side of Atlanta took 12 hours. First time in my life I ever saw a 4 lane Interstate Flood! They had a levy break too and the news footage I saw of that looked just like the ones from Katrina.:(

RE: Camping World

They are all trying to survive. Last week and needed a part for my MH. The on-site RV repairman went to 3 RV dealerships that specialize in stocking just about every part you would need and all 3 said they have eliminated stocking parts for RV's. I had to order it from the maufacturer. Lot of money is tied up in inventory. Heck if dropping the inventory helps save their business so be it. I'd rather see them do this and come out a winner at the end and the RV dealeship still be there. My local RV dealership sent back every A they had on their lot when this all started going down and he is still in business.

RE: Getting Rid of Argentine Ants in Rig

I don't know if they were Argentine ants but when I was in Florida I had those real small tiny ants invade my MH. Mine got in via a plant that was placed out side the MH and when it was brought in, the ants where in the pot.:R I sprayed and that did not work. (BTW spraying bug spray in a MH was nasty, spent better part of day drying to get the smell out.) What worked for me were those small round bait stations. But them under the sinks, and under the couch and that did the trick. They find it like food and bring it back to the rest of their family and poof they are all dead!.

RE: Cruise control recall

I personally was impressed with Ford. I brought my MH to a Ford Dealership and the first thing they did was print out a sheet on my model MH and it stated the recalls. Next dealership I was at showed that I had had that recall fixed at the last place! Years ago recalls where printed buried in a newspaper, no letters were sent out and most certainly it was not networked on a computer. If you didn't read about it you never knew, and I think that it was intentional on the manufactures part back then to save having to pay for all the recalls. It's much different today. Yes it maybe only alerted at a dealership/internet but at least it is readily available to the public.

RE: Believing what you read

I don't think some people get it that Blogs and Wikipedia and the like, are nothing more than 'someone's' opinion input, and/or an account of an incident. They are NOT held accountable for facts and it is to be interpreted as such.......but get it going across the internet and it becomes factual fact about everything. And what is most frightening is there are people who REALLY believe it. Anyone here could start a blog about something, post the link on a forum and by the end of the day it will have become gods honest truth around the world. The TV news has its problems with politics at times, but when it comes to incidents the news media is STILL held accountable for being factual, blogs are most certainly not. In regards to the WM thread, come on, all the 'facts' came from a Homeless Blog.:B http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v664/RVn05/beammeupsmiley.gif

RE: GPS Routes

How do I edit/delete just a portion of my route I'm trying to set up? I took the wrong highway. Thanks,DarvinW@aol.com Most GPS's will pick up from where you are at. If I decide not to take a road that the GPS has programed it might say turn around a few times but when you don't it recalculates the route from where you are at by itself. OR you can go into the index and select maps and then 'read as text' and you can change it from there.

RE: Verizon network down in south Georgia

How horrible. I can't imagine it getting much worse. I wasn't aware of the weather problems in Atlanta. I'm glad I'm no longer a claim adjuster. That sounds like a mess! It has been fine in S. Georgia. We still don't have Verizon cell service. Hope the rest of your trip gets better. Are you staying put for a few days? Good to hear the weather is better in South Georgia! Maybe Verizons main towers are up this area. Plans were to leave today to head further south, but we had another heavy down pour. So will try again in the a.m.
